Carl Henshaw founded his company in 1958 to support local farmers by constructing irrigation and watering ponds. During this time, he sourced metal pipe products from Armco, a supplier with whom he developed a strong business relationship. Over the years, Armco invited Carl to become a stocking dealer of their metal pipe products.

Gary Potter worked as a salesman for Armco from 1970 to 1980. In 1980, Armco rebranded as Contech, and Gary continued with the company until 1985. That year, he joined Carl Henshaw's business as a salesman.​

By 2002, Gary was serving as the dedicated Armco salesman for Carl M. Henshaw Drainage Products. That same year, he became President of the company. When Armco was eventually dissolved and Contech assumed control of its metal pipe operations, Gary partnered with Carl, and together they expanded the Henshaw business.

 

In 2015, Gary’s son, David Potter, became President, continuing the legacy of leadership and growth. Over the years, the company has added new product lines, attracted top talent, and evolved into a key supplier across multiple sectors of the construction materials industry.
